A Statement From Our CEO Rebecca Shields-Black Lives Matter

Today we stand in solidarity with all those affected by and grieving the recent murders of innocent members of the black community.

For years we have sought to educate and build belonging and better care with our Cultural Competency and Trauma Informed Care Strategy. I can only think that there is so much more to be done and we will take action.

In the near future, we commit to providing the community and our staff with mental health resources as many process the grief of both the current and longstanding inequalities that have persisted in our communities for decades.

Some of us, including myself, have never had to face the barriers that people of colour are forced to endure. Although we cannot profess to understand, we promise to continue to be allies to both the community and our staff. Additionally, we stand behind and are in support of the work of #BlackLivesMatter.

If you need support, please do not hesitate to reach out to our supportive telephone counselling line Monday to Friday at 1-866-345-0183. Youth can also reach out to our MOBYSS Team for support by saving your spot here MOBYSS.ca or calling 289-879-2376.

Please know that our efforts as allies, will continue far beyond this statement.
