Innovation

Innovation

Creating transformational change in the lives of those living with mental illness, and those supporting loved ones living with mental illness and addiction.

At CMHA-YRSS, we don’t believe in standing still.

Innovation is our driving force, and we are prepared to try new things and take risks in our relentless pursuit of mental health for all.

Our six-year Revolutionizing Care, Delivering Results strategy is based on three core pillars for transformational impact by 2025:

  • Improving access to supports and services
  • Operational excellence for our people, practices, processes and partners
  • Revolutionary thought leadership in designing and building the future of community care

Our staff, volunteers and partners are encouraged to be bold, to try things that have never been tried before. When things don’t work out as expected, we learn. And when a wild idea succeeds, we celebrate and ask, what’s next?

Why does innovation matter?

Mental health challenges will affect one in two Canadians in their lifetime. We aim to support the individual, their family and their caregivers to achieve optimal mental health in a way that works for them. We continually develop and introduce new programs and services specific to the diverse needs of all the communities we serve.

With the support of our funders, donors and volunteers, our programming innovations and continual process improvement initiatives have significantly reduced wait times for access to care over the past two years in York Region and South Simcoe. And we are committed to making access to quality care even faster so you can get the help you need, when you need it.

We also have a responsibility to tackle the big, systemic, social challenges that lie behind the mental health epidemic. We need to change nothing less than the way we function as a community, if we are to truly ensure that mental health is possible for everyone.

Our team doesn’t shy away from these challenges, we thrive on them. Take a look below at just a few of the big issues we are tackling with new thinking and a mentality of bravery.
