Meet Charyce

Nurse from our Telemedicine Program

Charyce’s Favourite Moment(s) at CMHA

I have been at CMHA for over 14 years, and over the course of time, there have been many rewarding moments! I have been privileged to work in different nursing roles while at CMHA.

In a nutshell, my favourite moment is when a client says they appreciate the care they’ve received at CMHA.

I worked in CMHA’s H.O.P.E. Early Psychosis Intervention Program for three years, which was very rewarding, and I enjoyed witnessing many individuals overcome their struggles with their mental health and psychosis and go on to live meaningful lives. I also worked with the Housing First Program and visited local shelters to provide them with foot care, a service that was needed and appreciated by the clients.

In my current role as a Nurse and Coordinator with the Telemedicine Program, it gives me great satisfaction to be able to bring services to clients in a convenient and timely manner. Not only am I focused on mental health but I’m able to address a diverse range of health concerns virtually.

Lastly, over the last 14 years, attending CMHA’s annual client camping trip has been a highlight as I’ve been able to spend time with clients and really get to know them.

Why Charyce Chose to Work at CMHA

I chose to apply to CMHA as I had moved North from the City of Toronto and decided to revisit the mental health field. During my interview, I was impressed by how much value was placed on mental health experiences and the compassion that I felt was offered to CMHA.

CMHA has been a great place to work, from offering a wealth of learning opportunities to an inclusive atmosphere and caring workplace culture. Over the years, I have seen several transitions and watched the organization grow!

How CMHA’s Telemedicine Program positively impacts our community

CMHA’s Telemedicine Program offers a virtual bridge to services that might otherwise be difficult for members of our community to access due to availability or accessibility. Whether that be access to psychiatry and psychotherapy services or specialists such as neurologists or cardiologists. Using a private two-way video conferencing system, clients can discuss symptoms and treatment with their healthcare professional just as they would if they were in person.
