Peer Support Specialist from our Mobile Youth Walk-In Clinic (MOBYSS)
Nuzhat’s advice/inspiration for others
We all go through unique life experiences and challenges that shape the individual we are today, and this is what should give us strength. When we look back at what we have gone through with compassion and how resilient we are, it helps us better move forward in life. Sometimes, we also have to make changes in our life if we want things to change for the better. Albert Einstein said, “We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.”
Nuzhat’s favourite moment at CMHA
I would say my favourite moments during my time with CMHA are when we usually reflect as a team at the end of the year on the difference we have been able to make in the lives of youth that we work with, and the relationships we have been able to establish with our different community partners. I also love the moments when I am able to showcase the great services that MOBYSS has to offer, and the immense support we get from our donors.
Why Nuzhat likes working at CMHA
I like working at CMHA because I get to work with an amazing team that is very supportive and encouraging. Everyone helps each other become better at what they do and the priority is always what is in the best interest of our clients. I also love the fact that diversity at CMHA is appreciated and valued.
How MOBYSS is making a difference in our community
The MOBYSS program provides mental, physical and sexual health support to youth between the ages of 12-25 years old. The aim is to meet youth where they are at! It reduces many barriers that youth face when trying to access mental health services – such as distance, stigma, or a rigorous intake process. MOBYSS provides a safe, nonjudgmental and confidential space for the youth to come and share their struggles and to bring about positive changes in their life. In our work, we acknowledge the uniqueness and the potential of each youth and what they have to offer.
