Housing First Program

Basic shelter from the elements is something that can easily be taken for granted. The CMHA Housing Program is here to help those who are in immediate need.

Our Housing First services are Mobile, Accessible, Voluntary, and Responsive:

  • Mobile: meeting client’s in the community wherever they are
  • Accessible: refusal to take psychiatric medications or to stop using substances will not bar access to service
  • Voluntary: led by client’s choice and designed to respond to individual client needs
  • Resource Centre called the Career Café, located in the recovery program in Aurora
  • Responsive: Services provided in the client’s language of choice.

Our program is funded by the Central LHIN to provide services including: intensive peer support, case management, nursing care, and occupational therapy to Housing First clients. Thanks to our Housing First Program partnerships with Addiction Services for York Region, as well as Across Boundaries, and CMHA Toronto the program continues to grow stronger and we are able to reach more people in need.

Drop by for a take and go meal.  If you would like to meet with one of our Housing Staff for 1:1 support, you can register at the front door for an available in-person time to meet and be connected to services on Mondays from 9 a.m. to noon at our Aurora location (entrance available off the back of Temperance Street).  Limited 1:1 timeslots will be available based on first come first served.

If you have any questions, please reach out to our team, or to get started, register directly with Streamlined Access at the link below.
