CMHA Spotlight: Vince’s Market

Vince’s Market shares why giving back and supporting our community is important to them:

Asking for help when one is struggling is the first big step in getting care. Knowing how and where to get help can be an entirely different obstacle. Making access to mental health care in our committee accessible provides the least amount of roadblocks to getting support. We feel strongly that being supported in a time of need and in developing lifelong tools to support one’s life experience is essential in supporting a healthy, vibrant community.

Vince’s Market 2022 Community Product Initiative

Each year, our company selects one community organization by which to work with on a year-long program of building awareness and fundraising for a contribution to that organization. We selected the Canadian Mental Health Association York Region and South Simcoe, and specifically the Mobile Youth Walk-In Clinic (MOBYSS) program to be the organization for 2022.

Vince's Market presents CMHA with Community Product Initiative Donation

During the course of the year, we raised funds for CMHA by way of our Vince’s Market Community Product Initiative – in which we make available a product(s) for sale and raise funds from the supporting vendor company and by contributing 15% of the gross sales of that product to the campaign. We support this by sharing the story of CMHA through marketing materials, hosting additional fundraising events, and participating in CMHA events. We are proud that in 2022 we raised over $30,000 via our Community Product Initiative and close to $14,000 in contributions to CMHA events.

When identifying a partner, we are always looking for an area of support that is serving our local community and where we feel the needs are growing. We are looking for organizations that make their services easily accessible to all and whom we feel can utilize the contributing funds for meaningful programming or infrastructure requirements. CMHA fit the bill perfectly.

Vince’s Market Believes in Giving Back

We can only share our own experience, which is that when we contribute to our local community organizations, the investment we make is returned tenfold in both the sense of purpose/satisfaction from the activities and interactions with the organization and also in the awareness and recognition that comes to both the receiving organization and our own. I feel like any corporate philanthropic efforts should always be done within the means of the company so that the giving is driven by cause and benefit rather than any other factors. When you give what you can feel comfortable and know that the funds are going to go to a purposeful cause, then it feels more like an investment than anything else. It’s an investment in your family, friends and customers.

Vince’s Market was the recipient of CMHA’s 2022 Community Beacon of Light Award, which recognizes a business that supports CMHA and exemplifies the spirit of respect, inclusion and mental health for all.
